The staff at Sanford Clinic Webster recently raffled a star quilt made from pink ribbon fabrics to raise funds for breast cancer research. A total of $1100 was collected and donated to the South Dakota chapter of Komen for the Cure.
“What a beautiful quilt and awesome donation to SD Komen Affiliiate,” Betty Meyer, Education and Outreach Coordinator at Sanford Cancer Center and Komen for the Cure representative. “On behalf of the women your donation will help, thank you for your work to improve the lives of others!”
Seventy-five percent of the donation will remain in South Dakota and 25% will go into the Komen Research program. South Dakota Komen has helped fund many programs that help South Dakota women including screening , support and education.
Each year the Sanford Clinic Webster staff get together and participate in a charitable fund raising event or project. This year, the South Dakota chapter of Komen For the Cure was selected for the fund raising effort.
Throughout the summer, the quilt was on display at the clinic and several Webster businesses. Chances to win the quilt were sold and a drawing was held during Pumpkinfest.
“We applaud the efforts of the Komen organization toward finding a cure for this devastating disease,” Cheryl Hairgrove, PA-C at Sanford Clinic Webster said. “We wanted to do our part to help.”
