(Webster, SD) – Karen Wolter, Chief Nursing Officer at Sanford Webster Medical Center, was recently named District Nurse of the Year by the South Dakota Nursing Association (SDNA).
“In over 35 years as a registered nurse, Karen has consistently linked nursing education, professional membership, and community involvement within her career,” said District Four President Barb Goehring. “She has demonstrated presence in the profession through a multitude of activities, leadership roles and advocacy all geared toward the betterment of nursing in South Dakota.”
The SDNA sponsors seven separate annual awards for nurses, given during their annual convention recently held in Sioux Falls, SD.
“I am honored to receive this award from my peers and to be recognized as a nurse leader within the community of South Dakota,” Wolter said. “I love being a nurse and the rewards it has brought for me whether practicing as staff nurse, supervisor, educator, or as a department head. Thanks to my peers for bestowing this honor on me.”
The South Dakota Nursing Association is the professional organization for Registered Nurses in South Dakota. It is a constituent member of the American Nurses Association.
